How to design a PERFECT logo-Case Study
I love eating chips so I was inspired to craft a hand drawn logotype for a fictional chips brand during my creative sabbatical. The project goal was to design a simple and very attractive logotype, something I will see on a “chips pack” in a grocery store and buy within few seconds.
Below I will show you the process involved in providing a custom logo design service to my clients.
TYPOGRAPHY (Concept Sketch)
This stage was slow and steady. I carefully sketched some pretty thumbnails using a Kuretake brush pen.
FURTHER DEVELOPMENT (typography refinement)
Upon the thumbnail sketches above, I scanned it, imported it into Photoshop, isolated my best direction and printed it out. At this stage, I quickly did a rough pencil sketch and also a refined sketch. The images below shows how the initial rough sketches progressively narrowed down to the refined drawing.
VECTORING AND REVISION
The refined drawing was digitized in adobe illustrator. An adjustment was also made to the letter ‘o’ which made the loop between ‘o-p’ more visible.
FINAL LOGO
The final logotype can be seen on the packaging design below. I also added an outer stroke to the logotype on the packaging to give it more contrast.
